The Partner Visa allows the spouse or de facto partner of an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen to live in Australia permanently.It is processed in two stages — a temporary visa followed by a permanent visa after a qualifying period.

To be eligible for a Partner Visa, you must:
Be married or in a de facto relationship with an eligible sponsor
Prove that your relationship is genuine and ongoing
Meet health and character requirements
Provide relationship evidence (photos, joint accounts, leases, etc.)
Your sponsor must be an Australian citizen, PR, or eligible NZ citizen

Receive temporary visa (820 or 309)
After 2 years, become eligible for permanent visa (801 or 100)
